Habitat for Humanity?s Cars for Homes Program Steers Families Toward Local Affordable Housing

AMERICUS, GA (ContentDesk) August 1, 2005 -? Steering more low-income families toward local affordable homeownership opportunities, Habitat for Humanity is launching its nationwide "Cars for Homes?" vehicle donation program.
Cars for Homes? takes donated cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RVs and other vehicles and sells them through automobile auctions, recyclers or salvage yards to raise funds that help build simple, decent homes. Funds generated from vehicle sales benefit the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and community where the donation is made.
Habitat began its Cars for Homes? program in the fall of 2003 in the Seattle area. Since that time, car donations have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars that ultimately help build homes in partnership with low-income families."We are excited to expand Habitat's Cars for Homes? program across the country," said Marcia Rundle, Cars for Homes? general manager.

"It provides a hassle-free and easy way to give to Habitat.
Anyone can help provide affordable housing within their own community by donating vehicles they aren't using or are ready to sell or trade-in."Donors can call the Cars for Homes? toll-free number or process their car donation online. Donor contact, title and vehicle information is collected and, upon acceptance of the donation, arrangements are made for the vehicle, keys and title to be picked up for processing. Habitat for Humanity receives between 70 and 80 percent of the sales proceeds after towing fees and other expenses. Donors receive an acknowledgement letter for their car donation and can check with the Internal Revenue Service or their tax advisor for information on the tax deductibility of their donation.More information on how to donate a car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicle to help eliminate substandard housing can be obtained by calling Habitat for Humanity Cars for Homes? at 1-877-277-HFHI (4344) toll free, or at http://www.carsforhomes.org.About Cars for Homes?Cars for Homes? is Habitat for Humanity's national program that provides donors a quick and easy process for donating cars, trucks, boats, RVs and other vehicles to help build homes in partnership with local low-income families in need of decent, affordable shelter.

More Coal-fired Power Plants Acceptable If Needed to Recharge Future Electric Cars

According to a month-long reader poll conducted during December 2004 by the on-line magazine, EV World (http://www.evworld.com), a clear majority of respondents favored the construction of more coal-fired power plants if they were necessary in order to recharge significant numbers of efficient, battery-powered electric cars.
Greater reliance on coal poses an obvious dilemma for advocates of cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks. Of all the available fossil fuels, coal is, by far, the dirtiest, generating millions of tons of toxic pollutants and particulate matter, as well as dumping billions of tons of climate altering greenhouse gases into the atmosphere; more than 25 billion tons in 1995, alone. Its emissions cause acid rain and its mercury can cause serious birth defects.
All of these dangers are recognized and understood, which is why both the US government and private companies have invested on the order of...

Sports Cars

Stylish, sexy, sleek, streamlined, spirited and speed demon are all words used to describe sports cars, which are essentially two-door automobiles that are designed for high speeds, great power and smashing good looks. The manufacture of the modern-day sports car began only after 1945, when the economy started booming, technology developed dramatically and better roads were being built. They came in various shapes like convertibles, roadsters, coupes, grand tourers and sedans. Sports-car lovers are either devoted to timeless classics that have been souped up for current times, or are trendsetters looking for the latest kind of exotic car.

From powerful purring beauties like the Mercedes Benz SLK 350 to thundering thrillers like the Ford Mustang V-8, you can choose a sports car that matches your personality.

In fact, sports cars are as much about personality as they are about performance ? smooth aerodynamic bodies of carbon fiber, chrome pipes and fittings, rich...

The most important tool for racing RC Cars

Believe it or not, the most important tool for tuning and modifying RC cars, in any RC racer's pit box, probably isn't even sold at your local hobby store. Despite thier absence at hobby stores, you will see them laying on EVERY serious RC pro's pit area. The tool is, collectively, the pencil and paper. One of the most enjoyable experiences in RC cars, besides buying a new trick ride, is testing something new, in the hope you will discover the slight edge, or even a HUGE edge. Today's RC cars, buggies, and trucks have so many variables that can be tinkered with, even the slightest adjustment can have a drastic effect on the handling and speed of your ride.

Whether you race or just bash, you really should write down the current operating state of your RC ride. Variables such as ride hieght, camber, caster, the toe-in, the fuel mixture you use, the charge time of your batteries, the needle settings of your nitro, the running temp, how many races you get in before you need to rebuild...
